Mags was almost killed while standing on the side of Highway 97 on the way to Bend, Oregon. A truck was jack-knifing towards her on the icy road and all she could do was leap as far from the shoulder as she could in the newly fallen snow. The truck missed her by inches. She had been thinking how quiet snow makes everything.
